“India through Sri Lankan Eyes” Photo Exhibition at the Naigala Raja Maha Viharaya, Weeraketiya

The Consulate General of India in Hambantota organized photo exhibition “ India through Sri Lankan Eyes” at the Naigala Raja Maha Viharaya, Weeraketiya in Hambantota District on 23rd May 2024 and 24th May 2024 to mark the occasion of Vesak Full Moon Poya Day.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Consul General along with several distinguished guests, including Hon'ble Deputy Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament Mr. Ajith Rajapakse, Chief Priest Ven. Uditha Thero and Divisional Secretary of Weeraketiya Mr. I.R.K Vitharana which enhanced the importance of the event and emphasized the strong cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka.

The exhibition showcased a collection of photographs depicting significant places in India related to the life of Lord Buddha. These images offered a visual journey through important locations such as Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Kushinagar, providing a deep spiritual connection for the visitors. Over the two days, more than 5000 visitors attended the exhibition, reflecting the strong interest and enthusiasm towards Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India among the local community.
