Consul General of India, Hambantota Mr. Dipin P.R, called on Hon. Governor of Southern Province, His Excellency Dr. Willie Gamage at the Governor Secretariat in Southrn Province on Wednesday 7 October 2020 and held cordial discussions on further strengthening India Sri Lanka relationship in the Southern Province.
02 During the meeting Consul General thanked Governor of Southern Province for their support and assistance to the Consulate in organizing various activities in Southern Province. Discussions between the Consul General & the Governor focused on the Development Corporation by Government of India in Southern Province, ITEC Collaboration, Cultural activities, Resumption of tourism activities in Southern Province post Covid and enhancing connectivity between the two countries.
03. Consul General briefed the Governor about the Grant of USD 15 million announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for development of Buddhist ties between India & Sri Lanka during the recent virtual bilateral summit held on 26 September 2020. The Governor of Southern Province Dr. Wille Gamage extended his support and cooperation to the new Consul General for his tenure in Hambantota.
