74th Republic Day of India celebrations in Southern Province, Sri Lanka

 The Consulate General of India, Hambantota celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India on Thursday , January 26, 2023 at the Consulate premises in Hambantota with great patriotic zeal and fervor. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, the Consul General read out the address of Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu to the nation on the eve of the Republic Day.

2.         Many distinguished personalities, including, District Secretary, Deputy Mayor, Officers from Tri Forces, Senior Government officials, Municipal Council Members,  Local police officials, officials from Hambantota Chamber of Commerce, representatives of health service & education service etc. participated in the flag hoisting ceremony.

3.       In the evening, a special reception was hosted by the Consul General at Radisson Blu Resort, Galle. The Hon’ble Governor of Southern Province H.E Dr Willie Gamage was the chief guest on the occasion. Deputy Speaker of Sri Lankan Parliament, Hon’ble. Ajith Rajapaksha, Sri Lankan Parliament members Hon’ble Weerasumana Weerasinghe, Mr. Chandima Weerakkodi, Mr Mohan Priyadarshana De Silva Southern Provincial Ministry Secretaries, Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, and Faculty Dean from Ruhuna University, Municipal Matara & officials of Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce and other prominent local personalities were among the distinguished guests who attended the reception.
