76th Independence Day of
India celebrations in Southern Province, Sri Lanka
The
Consulate General of India, Hambantota celebrated the 76th Independence
Day of India on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Consulate premises in Hambantota
with great patriotic zeal and fervor. The event commenced with the hoisting of
the National Flag by Acting Consul General Shri Atul Aggarwal followed by the
singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, the Acting Consul General read out
the text of Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi
Murmu’ s address to the nation on the eve of the Independence Day.

Many distinguished personalities, including, The Clergy,
Hon’ble Mayor, Hon’ble Deputy Mayor, General Officer Commanding of 12th
Division at Hambantota, Acting Naval Officer In Charge of Kavanthissapura Naval
Base, , Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hambantota, Additional District
Secretary, Assistant District Secretary, Head Quarters Inspector of Hambantota,
Senior Government officials, officials
from Hambantota Chamber of Commerce, representatives of hospitals etc.
participated in the flag hoisting ceremony.
3. This year Independence Day celebration was
dedicated to the people of India. Based on the success achieved by the people,
the resolve to build “Atmanirbhar Bharat” is also a part of this Mahotsav. This
grand festival was also gone ahead with the “Har Ghar Thiranga Abhiyan” The
Indian tricolours fluttering in every nook and corner of the World.
