AKAM Cycle Rally from Matara Fort to Galle Fort

As a part of celebrating  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM),  Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized a “AKAM Cycle Rally “on 8^th June 2022. The rally was organized in association with Matara Supper Wheel Sports Club to convey the message of using bicycle as a affordable, reliable and  environment friendly means of transportation promoting health & wellness.  

02.          Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of her people, culture and achievements. India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 12th March 2021 formally launched India@75 celebrations at Sabarmathi Ashram in Gujarat, 75 weeks before 15th August 2022.

03.          The cycle rally  was flagged off by Mr. Y Wickramasiri, District Secretary of Matara at Matara Dutch Fort and was led by  the Consul General Dipin P.R.  along with officials of the Consulate.  30 cyclists representing Matara Super Wheel Sports Club participated in the event. The rally was concluded at the Galle Dutch Fort.
