Ayurveda camp on 8th National
Ayurveda Day in Hambantota district
As a part of celebration of 8th National
Ayurveda Day on 10th November 2023, the Consulate General of
India, Hambantota in collaboration with Department of Ayurveda, Southern
Province, organized a successful Ayurveda Medical Camp on 9th November
2023 at Chethiyagiri Meditation Centre, Bolhinda, Kaluwarawewa in Hambantota
District. This event witnessed a remarkable attendance with more than 150
attendees from diverse age groups, reflecting the growing recognition of
Ayurveda as a holistic healthcare solution.
2. This noteworthy
initiative offered free Ayurvedic medicines, consultations, and comprehensive
check-ups to visitors. Renowned Ayurvedic specialists from Department of
Ayurveda, Southern Province provided valuable insights and recommendations
educating attendees on the principles and benefits of Ayurveda in promoting
wellness.
3. Consulate
General of India Hambantota extends its sincere appreciation to all
participants, experts, and Department of Ayurveda, Southern Province for making
this event a significant success. This initiative reflects our commitment to
advancing the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda for the betterment of individuals and
communities.

Ayurveda day is celebrated every year on Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras), to
commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Dhanvantari, who is referred to as
the ‘God of Ayurveda’ in Sushruta Samhita, an ancient Sanskrit text on medicine
and surgery. Ministry of Ayush, GoI celebrates “Ayurveda Day” every year and
undertakes various activities throughout the country and all over the
world. In alignment with the theme of India’s G20 Presidency ‘Vasudhaiva
Kutumbakam’, the focal theme for Ayurveda day-2023 was announced as ‘Ayurveda
for One Health’ with Tag line ‘Ayurveda for Everyone on Every
Day’ i.e., ‘ Har Din Har Kisi Ke Liye Ayurveda’ focusing
on human-animal-plant-environment interface.
