CGI Hambantota inaugurates an " India Corner " at  Matara District Chamber of Commerce & Industry

          As a part of celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Special Fortnight 2023, an “India Corner”  was inaugurated in collaboration with Matara District Chamber of Commerce & Industry at Chamber's premises on Friday 16th June 2023 by the Consul General of India Hambantota, Mr. Dipin P.R. in the presence of  , Mr. Metta Vidanagamaachchi Chairman of Matara District Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ms. K.N.Kaushalya Kumari, Matara Divisional Secretary, Mr. Sumudu Gunarathne, Regional manager of Central Bank, Mr.Nihal Kaluarachchi, President of Trade Union Matara and other directors of Matara District Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

02.          The “India Corner” has been set up with the objective of offering access to a variety of books, periodicals, magazine, brochure and other entertainment material procured from India, mainly in English & Hindi languages on Indian history, cultural heritage, fiction, children’s books, mythology, Indian leaders, philosophers, art and culture which can be accessed by people visiting the Corner. In coming times, the 'India Corner' is expected to transform into a vibrant hub of cultural activities with a full calendar of events benefitting the people of Southern Province.

03.          Speaking on the occasion, Consul General emphasized that launch of this “India Corner” is a major step in further cementing India’s cultural relationship with the people of Southern Province.
