Commemoration
of the 7th Ayurveda Day in Southern Province & Monaragala District
To commemorate the 7th Ayurveda Day, Consulate General of
India, hambantota, organized a special Ayurveda awareness week on the theme of
“Ayurveda Everyday, Ayurveda Everywhere” for Galle, Matara, Hambantota &
Monaragala District Secretariats from 18th to 21sr October, 2022.
The key objective of the awareness week was to spread awareness about Ayurveda
for better health and living.
2. The awareness programmes were
conducted by Dr. R.G.S Saranga, Dr.Sampath Aththanayake, Dr. Ruwan Raigamkoralage
& Dr. A.L.D.P Liyanage, renowned Ayurvedic practitioners of Southern
Province & Monaragala District who shared their expertise with the
participants about the importance of ayurvedic concept of holistic health and
its benefits for a healthy living.
3. Mr. H.P. Sumanasekara, Hambantota
District Secretary, Mr. Gunadasa Samarasinghe, Monaragala District Secretary, Mr.
Y. Wickramasiri, Matara District Secretary, Mr. M.M.M.Sharfas, Assistant
District Secretary, Galle graced the occasions and about 600 participants from all
district secretariats attended the awareness programme.
4. Ayurveda day is celebrated every year
on Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras), to commemorate the birth anniversary of
Lord Dhanvantari, who is referred to as the ‘God of Ayurveda’ in Sushruta
Samhita, an ancient Sanskrit text on medicine
and surgery. Ministry of Ayush, India celebrates “Ayurveda Day” every
year and undertakes various activities throughout the country and all over the
world.
