Divyanubhuti - Experience of the Divine – Odissi Dance Performance at Galle
As a part of celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) Consulate General of India, Hambantota in association with Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi & Southern Provincial Ministry of Sports, Youth Affairs & Culture organized “Divyanubhuti - Experience of the Divine” Odissi Dance Performance on 30th January 2022 at Hall De Gall Auditorium, Galle.
02. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of her people, culture and achievements. India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 12th March 2021 formally launched India@75 celebrations at Sabarmathi Ashram in Gujarat, 75 weeks before 15th August 2022.
03. The “Divyanubhuti - Experience of the Divine” was performed by Ms. Moumita Gosh & her Ensemble, Ms. Moumita Ghosh is one of most versatile & exponent of Odissi Dance. The occasion was graced by the H.E (Dr). Willie Gamage, Hon’ble Governor of Southern Province, Mr. Sampath Athukorala, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr. Priyantha Sahabandu, Hon’ble Mayor of Galle Municipal Council, Mr. Bimal Indrajith De Silva, Secretary, Southern Provincial Ministry of Sports, Youth Affairs & Culture. More than 200 distinguished witnessed the programme including many prominent local personalities.
04. The one and half hour performance by the Odissi Dance Group characterized by graceful in execution kept the audience spellbound at the venue. They enjoyed the programme and appreciated the efforts of Consulate General of India, Hambantota in bringing such rare and unique dance form to Sri Lanka.
