Handing over of Humanitarian assistance in Hambantota
With the objective of further strengthening friendly relations and once
again extending a helping hand towards the people in Sri Lanka, Acting Consul
General Mr. Atul Aggarwal handed over humanitarian assistance in the form of
food materials and other essential domestic supplies for low income families in
Hambantota District on 22nd April 2022 at the premises of Hambantota
Nimbaramaya Temple. The programme was carried
out under grant assistance by the Government of India.
02. More than 120 low income families
in Hambantota area received the food materials and other domestic supplies as a
part of the programme. Speaking at the event, Acting Consul General underlined
that India cares for the people of Sri Lanka and will continue to extend such
humanitarian assistance in future in all possible ways for overcoming economic
and other challenges being faced by various communities.
04. Consulate General of
India Hambantota has always been forthcoming to assist the people of Sri Lanka
in Southern Province and Monaragala District during the time of needs. During
the Covid 19 pandemic situation, Consulate General of India, Hambantota distributed
dry ration and essential materials to the families affected by corona
pandemic in Galle, Tissamaharama,
Buttala, Madampagama, Hikkaduwa, Ratgama & Hambantota. Sri Lanka is among
the major recipients of development assistance from the Government of India
& India’s development projects in Sri Lanka are based on Sri Lanka’s own
choices, priorities and touch the lives of common people across Sri Lanka.
