Presentation of Sanitation Materials to Wellawaya Base
Hospital
As part of celebrating Clean India
Mission, an initiative of the Government of India and also as part of
Consulate’s effort to support Sri Lankan community during Covid 19 pandemic,
the Consulate handed over Sanitation Materials such as facemasks & other
sanitation materials to Wallawaya Base Hospital in Monaragala District on 11th
January 2022. Dr. Anuradha Ranadeva the medical superintendent
received the materials from Mr. Atul Aggarwal, Consul in the presence of
doctors, nursing staff & other staff of the hospital.
02. During his speech the Consul also
mentioned about the Swach Bharat Abhiyan campaign (Clean India Mission), an
initiative of Government of India launched on 145th Birth Anniversary of
Mahatma Gandhi, 2nd October 2014 by the Indian Prime
Minister Narendra Modi. The Consulate
since its inception in 2010 has been extending its support to the Sri Lankan
community through various programmes and activities. Handing over of Sanitation
Materials to Wallawaya Base Hospital was also one of small step forward in this
direction. Last year the Consulate General of India, Hambantota had also
presented sanitation materials to Hambantota local fishing community on the
occasion of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
